Isn't bringing up children with religion the same as bringing them up with ancient ignorance,
deluding their personal advance intellectually, and therefore damaging humanity as a result.
or, by the same token, to raise a child to be atheist?
surely we should teach our children how to think, not what to think.
equip them with the mental tools they need to be able to work things out for themselves.

i'm sure this has been asked a million times before but since leaving the witnesses what religion (or lack thereof) have you chosen for yourself?
and what is it about that religion that attracted you?
since leaving the witnesses i think i no longer believe in god, not out of anger, actually i think i like the idea of him more since i don't believe in him anymore.
A happy humanist / atheist, it's a good thing
and starting my day off beautifully.
in the short time i have been here i have become addicted!
why is it that after the coffee is brewed, the computer goes on?
Welcome to the forum Momzcrazy, have a nice day
there is so much pain caused everyday by the wtc and from people being trapped in abusive relationships, as well as children being abused and neglected.
what has helped you heal in your path to rediscovery in life?
have you healed or are you just beginning?
Pulling out that ring in my nose that the WTS. had place and kept an open mind, I'll admit I banged into a few walls in this process, but I eventually came out ok
The thought control that was in place by the WTS. was also removed which lead to thinking for my self in a concisely mature way.
Now I'm very happy living in the truth
let's see exactly what people are holding so firmly to, while all the time believing they aren't actually deluded.. section taken from: .

first, let's take a quick look at the basic biblical narrative:.
You might say Christianity is a big bang, some people hear it and some don't
I think it's better for humanity to live within reality and deal with those realities as they present themselves, rather than to seek answers from ancient ignorance
I wonder if humanism could be turned into a prominent religion in are modern world .
Isn't modern religion just ancient ignorance after all

Those righteous folks sure make good sales men, a true and faithful con man of Jehovah
You can always trust a man of the cloth
remember how it was always stressed how important it was to "have a personal relationship to jehovah"?
that those who got disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves because of what members of the org.
had said or done, or failed doctrine etc., wouldn't have done so "if they only had had a close, personal relationship to jehovah"?
Yes of course, but I was under a psychosis of fear and delusion
so what to do?????.
he was a family friend for years.....i saw him in the supermarket a few months back and he stopped and chatted to me for a while.....he rang me today to see if he can call in the morning for a cuppa......he says he isnt coming to preach...... he is one of those likeable people..........but has had a heart attack shortly after i saw him in the supermarket......he says he is okay now.. so i cant really see the point...........he is older; in his 70's.......and i think whatever we talk about i dont want to be responsible for putting his health at risk by opposing his beliefs.. am i missing an opportunity or should i leave well alone?.
Do you think he's baiting you into a trap
Or is he really just trying to be social

july 18, 1969 .
Thanks Marmot that brought back old memories, yes that was the summer of the international conventions of 1969
After that convention and the books introduced that summer, I think one could have been the " Babylon the Great " book
that really heated up the end was near policy leading up to 1975
a year or so after 1975 the JWS had the biggest drop of it's followers in its history
but they did sell a whole whack of books in that era.
christian witnesses of jah .
come now the christian witnesses of jah.
that is why it must be our purpose to not serve jah or jesus by pleasing men.
Ignorance with a different flavor is still ignorance
